The Sun is yet to rise and one more star is getting ready to shine…. The clock is ticking… People have started to gather… There’s excitement in the wind and everyone is waiting for the rising star to arrive.
This rising star is Ms. Preeti Maske… A Guinness Book Record Holder who is aiming to make another one. It isn’t difficult to find a person who works hard to make a name for oneself but finding a person having the passion for making a new world record for the noble cause of organ donation isn’t really easy. Preeti has taken up the herculean task of cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 10 days to spread awareness about organ donation.
For the flag-off, More than 100 cyclists are cycling from Savitribai Phule Pune University to Shaniwar Wada for the ceremony. ReBirth volunteers are busy ensuring that everything runs smoothly for the ceremony.
IPS officer zone 1 Shri. Gill, Ex MLA Mrs. Medha Kulkarni, EMS(108) officials Shri Dr. Dnyaneshwar Shelke, Rajabhau Kadam, ANJ officials , officials from Rotary Club North and Synergy and many more eminent people from Pune are present to bless and wish good luck to the team taking up the herculean task for the noble cause.
The flag-off ceremony was concluded by felicitating Ms. Preeti with a bouquet of flowers.
Preeti and the team have started their journey. Ms. Preeti and the pilot team have reached Delhi by two well equipped cars and further travelled to Udhampur …. a distance of 600 kilometers covered without a hitch…. And the work starts… The residents and eminent people from Udhampur are informed about the of ReBirth activities regarding organ donation.
Next stop is Srinagar…. The route from Udhampur to Srinagar will take Preeti through Kazi Kund, Banihal Tunnel, Srinagar.
Snow covered surroundings, extremely cold winds , a light drizzle, open traffic free roads is just so soothing to hear but sub-zero temperatures, bad condition of roads and sharps pin-bend turns that too on a cycle isn’t a very pleasant situation…. But Preeti isn’t scared of all this… her strong will power, blessings, and good wishes from countless well wishers are her super powers!
Now all that’s needed is a clear skies and favorable conditions to start the cycle journey ….. and our STAR is ready to shine….
