Riding Pillion with B.O.Y. 2.0
Bharat Organ Yatra 2.0 is making the last pit stop in Telangana today at Khammam. Kaka departs from Hyderabad at 7:30am to cover 195 kilometres before the sun hits its peak…
A 68-year-old man, Kaka is not averse to technology but also not in favour of it! Instead of using the GPS, he opts to use the age-old method. Whenever he rides alone towards or off the highways, Kaka asks the locals for direction. He is wary of dropping his phone out of the pocket to check every other time to locate his status on Google Maps.
Hence, B.O.Y. 2.0’s backend team employs other methods to keep track of his progress without burdening him. Mileage Munchers are to the rescue again!
Being avid bikers, they know the best of people and systems. Ajay Zad, Sameer Ajgaonkar, and Shalaka Zad have managed to fit a tiny piece of technology under Kaka’s bike seat. They’ve reached out to Zen Microsystems for this fool-proof support in the form of a tracker.
Ashish Samant (Proprietor, Zen Microsystems) offers not just expert guidance but also sponsors the tracker! And with Devjeet Saha (Associate, Zen Microsystems) who happens to be a member of Mileage Munchers, the coordination only got smoother!
Synced with a satellite, the tracker relays Kaka’s live location, total number of kilometres clocked in a day, time taken to cover the distance, halts taken, duration of the halts, start and end locations, speed of the bike, and overspeeding (if any). All this on a smart phone and/or computer! When in case of an emergency, B.O.Y. 2.0’s backend team is ably equipped to call for closest help in the vicinity without losing precious time. Knowing that he has sound safety backup even when traversing the winding roads of a forest, Kaka rides the bike at peace! Help is always on standby for B.O.Y. 2.0!
ReBirth and Mileage Munchers may be thousands of kilometres away from Kaka, yet, virtually, we are riding pillion with him!
The regional magazine Motor Vikatan that exclusively writes about biking has published an article about Kaka! Yogesh, from Chennai had assured (If Not You, Who?) that the last minute interview will see the light of the day. His and Kaka’s efforts are imprinted permanently for everyone to read. Media coverage, either in print or digital format, also takes us to the city Kaka is in and makes us experience it firsthand!
Today, Kaka reaches Khammam. With no events lined up and the possibility of finding one zilch, Kaka wanders off to click photos while walking on the streets. B.O.Y. 2.0 has already made him an impactful public speaker. By the end of the journey, it may also turn him into a good photographer!
